Bad Penny by Staci Hart

35109577[BLURB]

Nothing good comes after the third date.

Date three is the crucial point when things get real, which is exactly why I bounce out the door, twiddling my fingers at whatever poor boy I’ve left behind. Because if I stick around, one of three things will happen: he’ll profess his undying love, he’ll get weird and stalky, or I’ll go crazy. Like, Sid and Nancy crazy. Like, chase-him-through-the-streets-begging-him-to-love-me crazy.

Seriously, it’s better for everyone this way.

So when I meet Bodie, I figure it’ll be the same as it ever was. It doesn’t matter that he doesn’t put a single string on me. Doesn’t matter that he’s funny and smart and jacked or that he can play my body like a grand piano. Because even though I’m built for love, love has only carved me up like a Christmas ham.

Resistance is something I can only hang on to for so long, and he has persistence in spades. But my heart isn’t as safe as I want to believe, and neither is his. And the second I ignore my cardinal rule is the second I stand to lose him forever.

[MY THOUGHTS]
3.5 out of 5 stars

Can be read as a standalone.

Slightly disappointing, but overall a cute read.

If you've read and enjoyed Tonic, you're probably going to enjoy this book as well. If you didn't like it, just stay away.

Although there were a lot of cute moments, I didn't find this funny at all. Maybe it's just my sense of humor, but nothing made me laugh or giggle.

Penny is loud, gutsy, and bold. She's a fun girl, but her biggest fear in life is commitment. Her worst enemy is herself, and her mind is the only thing stopping her from true happiness.

Bodie knows Penny is easily frightened from relationships. So he tells her that they don't have to be serious, hoping that one day she'll accept that they belong together. He's the perfect hero that knows how to please a woman in bed. He's also patient and compassionate... a perfect 10.

I really liked Bodie and Penny together, but it was just difficult for me to get attached to this book. Some of the sex scenes felt a bit meaningless, and things just felt a bit dry and bland.
