Vicious (Sinners of Saint #1) by L.J. Shen

Emilia

They say love and hate are the same feelings experienced under different circumstances, and it’s true.
The man who comes to me in my dreams also haunts me in my nightmares.
He is a brilliant lawyer.
A skilled criminal.
A beautiful liar.
A bully and a savior, a monster and a lover.
Ten years ago, he made me run away from the small town where we lived. Now, he came for me in New York, and he isn’t leaving until he takes me with him.

Vicious

She is a starving artist.
Pretty and evasive like cherry blossom.
Ten years ago, she barged into my life unannounced and turned everything upside down.
She paid the price.
Emilia LeBlanc is completely off-limits, my best friend’s ex-girlfriend. The woman who knows my darkest secret, and the daughter of the cheap Help we hired to take care of our estate.
That should deter me from chasing her, but it doesn’t.
So she hates me. Big fucking deal.
She better get used to me.

[MY THOUGHTS]
4.5 out of 5 stars

"He was perfectly imperfect. Flawlessly flawed. Most importantly- he was Vicious."

Vicious caught me off guard, and I ended up staying up all night to finish the book. I loved everything about this. The down to earth girl, the jackass boy, and the complicated history.

Emilia met Vicious when her parents got a job at his family's mansion. Vicious was cruel to her and treated her like scum. So she tried to avoid him as much as possible. Unfortunately, she couldn't avoid him when she started dating one of his best friends.

On the outside, Vicious was the rich boy that everyone wanted to be. He was popular, handsome, and athletic. But Emilia saw through him, and he didn't know if his feelings toward the artsy girl was love or hate.

When things got out of control, he forced Emilia to leave California.

Years later, the two run into each other in New York, and he offers her an olive branch. Her debt was so high from taking care of her sick sister, and she desperately needed the money Vicious offered. So she accepted the job to be his personal assistance.

Vicious planned on using her and leaving her, but Emilia had other plans. She's not going to make the same mistakes from high school. Now it's her turn to leave him high and dry.

Rules are broken, and the two can't stop the inevitable. Even though Vicious is a jerk throughout the majority of the book, I love everything about him. As the story switches point of views, we get to really dive into his crazy fabulous mind.

I still can't stop thinking about this story, and I'm so excited for book #2!
